SGSC mourns student killed in Bacon Co. plane crash

The South Georgia State College family was saddened to learn that one of its students passed away early Wednesday, Sept. 16 in a plane crash in Bacon County, Ga. Angel B. Wade, a 20-year-old freshman at SGSC, was a pre-nursing major.

SGSC President Dr. Virginia Carson commented, “It is always tragic when someone loses their life in an accident, but particularly when it is a young adult who is just in the early stages of life’s journey. I cannot begin to imagine the scope and depth of grief being experienced by Ms. Wade’s family and close friends. On behalf of SGSC, Ms. Wade will be sorely missed and long remembered, and her family is in our thoughts during this difficult time.”

South Georgia State College is a close community, and the loss of a student impacts the entire SGSC family.  Counseling services are available on both the Douglas and Waycross Campuses.  Campus Life staff are reaching out to entire classes, especially those in which Angel was a student.
