There was further discussion about the possibility of a land bank authority being established for Coffee County during the work session for the regular county commission meeting Monday morning.
Douglas City Commissioner Dennis Josey presented the prospect of developing a land bank authority to assist with community clean up at a meeting a few weeks ago, and the county commission has been working on its establishment. It is still in planning stages and may or may not culminate into a land bank authority for Coffee County, but if it did the board for the authority would be made up of two representatives from the City of Douglas, two from the county, and one from the board of education.
Other details are currently being discussed and, tentatively, a draft for the authority may be available for review by the first of October.
Officials from Transwaste were present at the county commission work session to request that the collection station for Coffee County be opened only on the third Saturday every month instead of two Saturdays a month. The request was approved.
The regular meeting of the commissioners was very brief, but a bid for repairs on the annex building from Topcoats Roofing was approves. The bid was the lowest of two bids at a little over $38,000.
