Elder Milton Newsome, Jr. Son of the late Milton Newsome, Sr and Berta Lou Moore was born in Quitman, GA on July 14, 1950. He went to join the Savior in that home not built with hands, but whose maker and builder is God, on September 18, 2015 at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Elder Newsome was a unique man. He was kind loving, respectful and an amazing son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, friend, and man of the word. A very humble and mannerable man. The life he lived covered all this and more.
Elder Newsome moved into the minister role in 1980. He served various churches in the AME family to include Mt. Mariah, and Emmery Chapel A.M.E.. He worked for over forty years with AMA trucking company. He was an active member of Walnut Hill No. 313 of Quitman, GA.
Elder Newsome is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mrs. Claretha Newsome. Five sons; Henri (Makeita) Manning, Kenneth (Essie) Moore both of Valdosta, GA, Milton Newsome, III of Pearson, GA, Jerome Grosier of Quitman, GA, and Tyler Newsome of Jesup, GA, Two daughters; Berta (Fred) Macon, Lavanda Newsome both of Pearson, GA. Twenty-one grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Nine brothers; John (Cindy) Allen, Larry Moore, George Moore, Jimmy Newsome, William (Loreta) Moore, Forest (Tonya) Newsome, Leon Newsome, Andrew Newsome, and Louise (Rosa) Bell. Five sisters; Almarie (Jimmy) Eady, JoAnn (Otis) Goodman, Margaret (Calvin) Brockington, Josephine Bell, and Teresa Crumby. Two aunts; E. Ruth Peak, and Margret Stewart. Over one hundred and five nieces and nephews and other cousins and friends.
