Sarah Bennett, age 86, of Douglas, GA passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, following an extended illness. Mrs. Bennett was born on February 24, 1929, in Pearson, GA to the late George Wesley Harrell and Annie Florence Thigpen Harrell.

Survivors include: her two sons, Edwin (Jeri) Bennett of Dixie, GA and Ellie (Diane) Bennett of Axson, GA; daughter, Debra (Kenny) O’Steen of West Green, GA; three stepsons, Edwin Bennett of Atlanta, GA, Wayne (Shirley) Bennett of Douglas, GA, Dale (Gay) Bennett of Douglas, GA; stepdaughter, Kay Johnson of College Park, GA; two sisters, Anna Lee Pope of Douglas, GA and Laura Lewis of West Green, GA; nine grandchildren; several step grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilson Elwood Bennett and Ernest “Buss” Bennett; sister, Letha O’Berry; and two brothers, Lawrence Harrell and Richard Harrell.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at West Green Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Bounds and Rev. Wayne Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Burkett Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
