South Georgia State College freshman Shanelle Frederick was selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 21-27.

A West Bay, Cayman Islands native, Frederick helped lead the Lady Hawks to a win over Gordon State and to a close match against rival Darton State. Frederick scored a total of six goals and had two assists during the two games.

Frederick is excited about the honor stating, “Being named Player of the Week for the NJCAA is a big accomplishment for me. I have worked hard for a long time to get here. I owe it all to my previous coaches and family for always pushing me.”

The Lady Hawks (7-1, 6-1 GCAA) will be back in action this Sunday, Oct. 11 at Darton State.
