South Georgia State College’s cross country teams recently traveled to Americus to compete in the sixth annual Georgia Southwestern Invitational Remembrance Run.

Nathan Dukes, a sophomore from Jesup, ran three miles in 17:41 and placed 15th out of 40 runners. SGSC’s leading female runner, Laura Parsley, a freshman from Arbroath, Great Britain, ran three miles in 24:45 and placed 22nd out of 34 runners.

“This year’s runners are dedicated to their training and are preparing themselves to compete at a high level during the GCAA regional meet,” said head coach Nichole Levering. “I believe their hard work will pay off, and the results will complement that hard work.”

The cross country teams will continue the season by traveling to LaGrange College Friday, Oct. 9, followed by the GCAA Regional Meet Saturday, Oct. 24 in Macon.
