Several promotions are still being offered by the City of Douglas during the month of October, including a drawing for a $500 utility credit. Customers who visit city hall will be allowed to register for a $500 credit towards their utility bill through October 29. The drawing will be held at the Hometown Harvest on that day. For more information about the customer care center, dial 311 or call 384-3302.

In other ongoing promotions, the Douglas Fire Department has teamed up with NFPA during Fire Prevention Month to spread awareness of testing smoke alarms. This year’s theme is “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep: Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm.” The purpose of the theme is to focus on the importance of having working smoke alarms in your home and business.

Customers can register at city hall for a drawing that will be held Friday, October 30 for smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. For more information about Fire Prevention Month, call 384-4815.

The Natural Gas Department is promoting Natural Gas Month throughout the month of October.  In preparation for the cooler months, customers can call and schedule free pilot lightings. For more information about Natural Gas Month, call 389-3427.
