Evelyn Souther, age 90, of Douglas, GA passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Souther was born on August 13, 1925, in Douglas, GA to the late Rowan Benjamin Evans and Evelyn Pauline “Toolie” Shelton Evans.

Survivors include: her two sons, Shelton (Martha) Souther of Douglas, GA and Scotty (Pennie) Souther of Douglas, GA; two daughters, Sheryl (Lyn) Lott of Douglas, GA and Susan (Bill) Bailey of Douglas, GA; brother, Miles Ashley Brewer of Macon, GA; sister-in-law, Martha Evans of Douglas, GA; ten grandchildren, Ansley Souther, Anna Rose Souther, Will Souther, Clint Lott, Lorra Byrd, Brandon Bailey, Brooke Wheeler, Shonda Souther, Stacy Floyd, and Greg Souther; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Elwood “Wimp” Souther.

Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Douglas City Cemetery with Rev. James Guthrie officiating. Music will be furnished for the service by Martha Souther “When Morning Guilds The Sky”. In Lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to Satilla Regional Library or St. Andrews Anglican Church, 523 East Ward Street, Douglas, GA 31533.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
