James Pearson Johnson, age 85, of Douglas, GA passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Johnson was born on April 30, 1930, in Brunswick, GA to the late James McCarthy Johnson and Birdie Lee Sweat Johnson Buie.

Survivors include: his two sons, John (Lisa) Johnson of Waycross, GA and Jimmy Lee (Mary) Johnson of Alma, GA; half brother, Edgar Johnson of Amelia Island, FL; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Johnson, Beanna Johnson, Jessica Johnson and Jennifer Johnson; two great grandchildren, Ashton Adams and Landon Harper; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Judy Merritt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Johnson; his father, James McCarthy Johnson, stepfather and mother, John A. Buie and Birdie Lee Sweat Buie.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Dr. Freddie Smith and Rev. Gerald Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Homeward Cemetery in Camden County.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
