It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the halls of Eastside Elementary School! Eastside Pre-K students recently enjoyed learning about various Christmas traditions from around the world, and one of the students’ favorite traditions was learning about Gingerbread Men.
The children enjoyed reading many stories about a gingerbread man, boy, girl, baby, friend, pirate and bear. All the stories had different endings as to what actually happen to the gingerbread cookie, and the students enjoyed creating a different ending for their gingerbread cookie.
As a culminating activity, the Eastside Pre-K Students participated in creating their on unique gingerbread boy. No two cookies looked the same. Lunchroom Manager Mrs. Pace cooked the gingerbread boys for the students, but sadly the gingerbread boys escaped the oven when she opened the door and went running and hiding throughout the halls of Eastside.
The young students were sent on a quest with directions to find the lost gingerbread boys. Eventually, to the students’ surprise, the gingerbread boys had returned back to their classroom. It was a terrific snack for the day!
A special “thank you” goes to the many parents and grandparents who were in attendance to help “create” this special gingerbread cookie, as well as to the Eastside Eagles Café for helping to cook the treats.
Shown in the photos are students in Ms. Beverly Barbaree’s and Mrs. Paige Williams’s Pre-K Classes preparing their unique creations. Ms. Barbaree’s, Mrs. Godair’s, and Mrs. Williams’s classes would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
