Mary Laudis Peterson, 80, of Blackshear , GA formally of Douglas, GA passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Satilla Hospice House in Waycross, GA following an extended illness. The daughter of the late John Kermit Monk and Miriam Tanner Monk, she was born on June 9, 1935, in Coffee County, GA.

Survivors include: her son, Kevin (Christy) Peterson of Blackshear, GA; two grandson, Blake Peterson and Chance Shuman; two granddaughters, Peris D. (John) May and Caitlyn Shuman; great grandson, Easton May; great granddaughter, Carley May; sister, Glenda (Franklin) Mathews of Goose Creek, SC; special friend, Wendell Hutcheson; niece, Monica Mathews (Mike) Keen; nephew, Van (Brenda) Keen; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Neal Peterson.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Lone Hill Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Ann Braswell, Rev. Jerry Chancey and Chuck Sims officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
