Harry Dockery, age 85, of Broxton, GA passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Dockery was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 29, 1930 to the late John B. Dockery, Sr. and Rebecca Lott Dockery of Broxton.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Shirley, with whom he recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and who he often said marrying was his greatest accomplishment; his loving children, Richard (Darlene) of Westland, Michigan; Sherry (Edward Frederick) of Brownstown, Michigan and Ronnie (Amy) of Broxton; three adored grandchildren, Dennis, Lynn (Jason) Hubenschmidt and Emily; and two great-grandchildren, Brady Hubenschmidt and Anderson (A.J.) Hubenschmidt. Mr. Dockery also leaves nephews P.L. Dockery, John Harry Dockery and cousin Norman Dockery, all three whom he loved like sons and cousin Joel and Amelia Auger to whom he considered himself a second father. Mr. Dockery also leaves many other nieces and nephews both in Georgia and throughout the country. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John (“Junior”) Dockery, Raymond Dockery and Roy Dockery and an infant sister, Etta Jo.

Mr. Dockery was a Korean War Veteran and spent many years in Michigan but his heart and soul never left Broxton and he returned upon his retirement from General Motors in 1983.

Memorials may be made to the American Heat Association or the American Diabetes Association in his memory.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Den Weniger officiating. Interment will follow at Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
