Robby Clements, Community Education Representative, Bethany Hospice, was the speaker at the Douglas Kiwanis Club meeting Tuesday, Feb. 2 at the Flyin’ Cowboy restaurant.

Mr. Clements spoke about the importance of the Advanced Health Care Directive (AHCD), which is designed to make your wishes known when you are no longer capable of making health care decisions.  An alternative to this is a Health Care Power of Attorney, which is done through an attorney and supersedes any AHCD.  He also covered the purpose and functions of hospice care and the role of hospice in providing a “safe place” for the person who enters hospice care.

The Kiwanis club members enjoyed and appreciated his talk.
