The South Georgia State College (SGSC) Lady Hawks swept University of South Carolina-Salkehatchie, 5-2 and 13-3 in a softball doubleheader Saturday, Feb. 6 in Allendale, S.C.

Chelsea Lyons led the offensive attack by going 5-for-8 on the weekend with one RBI and four stolen bases. Summer Lee and Makayla Clark accompanied her with Lee going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one home run and Clark contributing at 3-for-4 with five RBIs. Whitney Oliver got the win in the first game throwing a complete seven innings, giving up only one earned run with three strikeouts. Samantha Hays and Kimberley Gentry combined for the win in the second game, which was halted by inclement weather in the third inning.

In the first home doubleheader of the season, the Lady Hawks took on Florida State College Jacksonville on Feb. 11 and came away with two disappointing losses, 1-0 and 2-1.

SGSC traveled to ABAC in Tifton on Feb. 13 and turned the tide against the Lady Stallions, winning both games by scores of 10-6 and 6-0. Oliver and Gentry picked up the wins and combined to throw 29 total innings, giving up only four earned runs. With their efforts, Oliver and Gentry racked up a total of 16 strikeouts. Macey Chancey went 5-for-9 hitting .552 on the weekend with five RBIs. Lyons went 6-for-13 hitting .462 with six stolen bases.

Lyons is currently fifth in the nation in stolen bases. She has a record of 11 stolen bases in a total of nine games.
