SGSC’s swim teams soared this past weekend at the Small College Championship Meet held at the SGSC Wellness Center on the Douglas Campus. Both the women’s and men’s teams captured first followed by Thomas University winning second place and Point University in third.

Carolyn Ives and Caitlyn Meece both earned three first place individual finishes, while Kiana Ocasio-Molina secured two, and Nikki Daley from Warner Robins won first in the 100 freestyle. In the 400 freestyle relay, the women’s team of Daley, Morris, Meece, and Ives earned first.

On the men’s side, Mitchell Graham from Columbus and Ryan Davis from Ochlocknee had two individual first place finishes. The men’s relay team of Vines, Graham, Villhauer, and Haymond captured first in the 200 medley relay.

“I am very proud of our teams. The wins from this meet were very special; however, I am very proud of several of our swimmers’ cut times in events as we gear up for nationals,” comments Coach CM Jenkins.

The NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be held in Fort Pierce, Fla., March 2-5. For meet results and other swim news, please visit sgsc.edu/athletics/swimming_home.cms.
