Westside Elementary recently welcomed Georgia author and illustrator Pam Alexander to entertain and inform students of her books of Georgia history and regions.
Mrs. Alexander presented to students and faculty during a special assembly on February 18, then to parents later that evening during Family Writing Night. During her presentations, Mrs. Alexander introduced her books of Georgia’s historical places and events as well as her new character, Jeremiah. After both presentations, she allowed students and parents to purchase her books.
Teachers and staff also got in on the action and creatively dressed as their favorite book character for the day! We had Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail, The Magic Schoolbus with several Ms. Frizzels, and The Little Old Lady Who Lived In a Shoe…just to name a few.
Students enjoyed seeing their teachers in costume and were encouraged to dress as a favorite book character as they returned to the Family Writing Night presentation.
We enjoyed having Mrs. Alexander and Jeremiah visit and hope to have her come again.
