Broxton-Mary Hayes Elementary School’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are a part of the Broxton Running Club. Marathon Kids, sponsored by Nike, has made this running program and student rewards possible through a grant provided to the school.

Broxton Elementary is the only school in the state of Georgia to receive this grant.  The running program emphasizes setting and achieving fitness goals.  The long-term goal is for each student to complete the length of four marathons, 104.8 miles. Students receive rewards when they complete each marathon. (They receive a Nike marathon shirt for the first marathon, Nike shoestrings for the second marathon, Nike shoe tags for the third marathon, and a running bracelet for the fourth marathon.)

Coffee High School’s Cross Country runners Cody Reid and Caleb Watson came to Broxton Elementary to help kick-off the running club season and encourage the students to work toward achieving their goals.

Broxton faculty, staff, and students would like to thank Coach Holly Bagwell for all her efforts to make the Broxton Running Club possible.  Every kid deserves the chance to be happy and healthy!
