Coffee County Sheriff Doyle Wooten qualified as a Democrat Wednesday to seek reelection in the upcoming May 24 primary. Wooten will face a challenge from longtime local firefighter and law enforcement officer Rex Harper, who qualfied earlier this week as a Republican. Thus far, Harper and Wooten are the only candidates to qualify for the office.

Another longtime member of the local law enforcement community, Brandon Musgrove, qualified as a Republican Wednesday to offer his name as a candidate for Coffee County Coroner.

In other races, Republican challenger Erica Carver will be seeking to unseat current Coffee County Clerk of Court Angela Spell-Hutto, and Tabitha Paulk has submitted her name as a candidate for the office of tax commissioner and will run against incumbent Shanda R . Henderson.

District 3 School Board Member Judi Worrell, who faces opposition from political newcomer Reagan Miller, qualified to run for reelection on Tuesday.

Qualifying for the May 24 general primary and nonpartisan elections will continue this week through noon on Friday.
