A 24-year-old Coffee County woman was hospitalized Sunday following a brutal incident in Alma.

Alma police responded early Sunday morning to a call involving a woman who was found nude and bound by a bicycle tire inner tube and duct tape.  Officers discovered she had been severely burned with an iron and beaten with several other items, and authorities are attempting to determine the possibility of rape.

Ivery Lee Williams (59) of Alma has been arrested for the crime and is currently charged with false Imprisonment, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, and will be charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Officials have not released the name of the victim, pending family notification.

The victim was transferred to a burn center in Augusta Sunday afternoon.
