The  City of  Douglas  Main  Street has  been  nominated  to  participate  in  the America’s  Main Streets Contest. Main Streets are the heartbeat of America’s cities  and towns. They play an important part in the long-term success of communities and help build a sense of place. When Main Streets are strong, so are the communities that surround them.

The  goal  of  the  America’s  Main  Streets Contest  is  to  help  promote  the  importance  and  strong economic  benefits  of  these  Main  Streets  and  the  small  businesses  that  help  them  thrive.  The winning  Main  Street  will  receive  $25,000  in  cash  and  related  prizes  to  help  revitalize  their downtown.

Voting has started and will continue daily until April 24. The top 25 cities with the most votes will then advance  into the semifinalist  round  with  individuals having the opportunity to vote daily from May 2-29. A winner will be announced on June 3.

Everyone is encouraged to vote daily. Only one vote, per person, per day will be allowed. To see the City of Douglas Main Street    profile and to cast your vote, go to http://mainstreetcontest.com/, click on “nominees”, type in Douglas, Georgia in the search box and then click on “view profile.” Individuals can also vote via City of Douglas, GA Government and Shop Local Douglas GA Facebook pages.
