Coffee Middle School Technology Student Association (TSA) students attended the annual Georgia TSA State Leadership Conference in Athens March 17 – 19. This annual event allows TSA members from the state to compete against other chapters in more than 35 competitive events ranging from Biotechnology to Video Game Design. Students have the opportunity to research and prepare reports and presentations and complete projects prior to the conference. There are also events that require on-site project construction as well as presentation preparation.
This year, 12 middle school students attended and represented CMS. The following is a list of members and the competitive events in which they competed:
– Samina Patel and Leana Atkinson placed 1st in Biotechnology
– Leana Atkinson and Samina Patel placed 2nd in Environmental Engineering
– Jordan Barton, Terry O’Neal, and Aayush Patel placed 4th in Catapult Design
– Evan Becton participated in the Digital Photography competition.
– Dev Patel and Om Patel placed 9th in Flight
– Preston Pegues, Allen McSwain, and Lexie Dennison placed 10th in Inventions & Innovations
– Allen McSwain and Lexie Dennison placed 6th in Jr. Solar Sprint
– Om Patel, Samina Patel, and Leana Atkinson placed 7th in Leadership Strategies
– Jordan Francis, Aayush Patel, Dev Patel, Om Patel participated in Video Game Design
TSA is a co-curricular student organization devoted to the engagement of students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Members have the opportunity to prepare and compete in various competitions and attend conferences, such as Fall Leadership Conference and State Leadership Conference. This summer the National Conference will be held in Nashville, TN.
