An Alma man was jailed Wednesday after allegedly running over a woman in a power wheelchair with his vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Alma Police responded to a hit and run accident Wednesday afternoon involving a female victim in a powered wheelchair. The victim had been struck by a car traveling south on S. Wayne St. near the intersection of E. 20th St. She was ejected several feet from her chair and had sustained visible head injuries.

Officers located the suspect vehicle and driver within thirty minutes and arrested Michael Anderson of Alma for felony leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence.

Officials stated officers were able to positively link Anderson’s vehicle with the crash.
