A Douglas woman was jailed recently for alleged methamphetamine distribution after neighbors alerted officials of suspected drug activity.

The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit and Georgia State Probation Officers conducted a search at 631 Taylor Circle on March 18.  During the investigation, authorities discovered six packages of methamphetamine located in a bedroom, along with several digital scales.  The approximate weight of the methamphetamine was 3.3 grams.

As a result, Candace M. Railey, age 27 of Douglas, was arrested for possession of ethamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

Coffee County sheriff’s authorities also released the following information Monday in regards to two unrelated incidents:

March 23 – The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit and the criminal investigation division of the sheriff’s office conducted search at 65 N. Sheridan Rd. Douglas, GA.  As a result of the search, Benjamin Lee Batten, age 54 of Douglas, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine (2.6 grams), possession of cocaine (.3 grams) and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.

March 25 – The Georgia State Patrol was assisted by the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit on a traffic stop that occurred on U.S. Hwy. 441 North above Pridgen, Ga.  During the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Julian Sanchez Jr. of McRae,  was arrested for possession of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
