The South Georgia State College (SGSC) Lady Hawks (27-6, 9-1) took two wins over Georgia Military College (GMC) in Milledgeville this past Saturday with scores of 4-1 and 4-2. SGSC not only remains in first place in the GCAA but is also setting team and individual records.

Chelsea Lyons of Jesup, Ga., is currently fourth in the NJCAA with 51 stolen bases, bringing the team record to a total of 102.  Whitney Oliver of Dublin, Ga., is currently ninth in the NJCAA with an ERA of 1.29. The Lady Hawks lead the conference with a team ERA of 1.51.

In the first game of the day, Lyons, Makayla Clark, Summer Lee and Shelby Lacy combined for seven hits and three RBIs.  In the top of the second inning, the Lady Hawks took an early lead, 1-0. Lacy went 2-for-3 in the game and hit a home run.

The third inning saw the Georgia Military Bulldogs score their only run of the day on an error.  SGSC maintained its lead after scoring another run in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Clark.

The Lady Hawks built an early lead in game two, scoring three runs in the first inning. Macey Chancey contributed to the lead by hitting a two-run single. The Bulldogs tried to make a comeback, but the Lady Hawks held off their efforts to sweep the doubleheader.
