Having educated and skilled laborers is important to any business or industry. Students in the Wiregrass Industrial Systems Technology program will be trained on new industry equipment using $35 thousand of the $55 thousand donation by Premium Peanut.  Wiregrass Foundation North has set aside $20 thousand to be endowed for Wiregrass students for scholarships.

Premium Peanut is a Georgia Grown company located in Douglas and would benefit from having skilled and knowledgeable employees like those trained in Wiregrass’ Industrial System Technology program.  The program is offered on the Coffee Campus of Wiregrass and prepares students for employment in a variety of positions within the industrial maintenance field.  Graduates are qualified for employment as an industrial maintenance technician, electrician, or mechanic.

“Premium Peanut is glad to be able to be supportive of the Wiregrass Industrial Systems Technology program.  Our company is only as good as its people, and we feel it is important that our people have access to quality education in important skills like Industrial Systems Technology.  We are all very lucky to have such a great community partner in Wiregrass Technical College and the Technical College System of Georgia,”  stated Gary Evans, COO of Premium Peanut.

The Industrial Maintenance Technology program is one of many programs slated for the Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grant (SIWDG) starting this fall.  Students who are eligible could go to school for free under this grant program. For more information about this program, visit wiregrass.edu.

To learn more about the foundation or to make a donation, contact Mona Paulk at 229-468-2102 or mona.paulk @ wiregrass.edu.  For information about enrolling at Wiregrass, call 229-333-2100.
