Henry Virgil Hersey, age 83, of Douglas, GA passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Hersey was born on October 12, 1932, in Waycross, GA to the late William Thomas Hersey and Elizabeth Spivey Hersey.

Survivors include: his wife, Zora Ann Hersey of Douglas, GA; three daughters, Debbie Lopez of Douglas, GA, Dana Washburn of Douglas, GA and Christy Batten of Douglas, GA; son, David Hersey of West Green, GA; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Hilton Martin and Rev. Russell McQuaig officiating. Interment will follow at Chatterton Church Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
