Mrs. Leona “Sugar” Stone Shrouder, age 95, of Broxton passed away Tuesday morning, May 24, 2016, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born April 12, 1921 to the late Elijah & Fannie Merritt Stone. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jimmie Shrouder and 8 Siblings: Thelma, Lucy, Lillie, Beatrice “Sweetie”, Clara “Doll”, Maude, Claude and Roscoe, and a daughter-in-law, Betty Jo Leachman Shrouder.
Mrs. Shrouder, a native of Jeff Davis County, was a homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening, fishing and being a farm wife. She was also an excellent cook and seamstress. Mrs. Shrouder was a Charter Member of the Stone’s Chapel Calvary Holiness Church.
Survivors include Her Children: David Shrouder, Marilyn (Gene) Kight, Tommy (Janice) Shrouder, and Brenda (Richard) Wooten, a special granddaughter she raised, all of Broxton, GA; 8 Grandchildren: Lisa Shrouder, Deidre (Danny) Hooten, Brenda (Richard) Wooten, Freddie (Regina) Kight, Allen (Beth) Kight, Jimmie Kight, Dr. Jinnie (Delane) Cleveland, Michael (Amy) Shrouder; 15 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great Great Grandchildren; Special Caregivers: Helen Dockery, Connie Grantham and Wanda Grantham and Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends and Other Relatives.
Funeral Services will be Friday, May 27, 2016, at 11:00 A.M., at the Stone’s Chapel Calvary Holiness Church, with Rev. Tim Mock, Rev. Edison Taft, and Rev. David Yawn officiating. The Interment will follow in the Reedy Branch Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends, Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 P. M., at Ricketson Funeral Home.
