Satilla library system announces 2016 Summer Reading Program, June youth events

Satilla Regional Library will be holding the following youth programs during the month of June and the upcoming Summer Reading Program for children and teens.  Come and join the fun at Satilla Regional Library!

Summer Reading Program 2016: Monday, June 6-Thursday, July 28, 2016
Summer Reading Program is being held Monday, June 6, 2016 through Thursday, July 28, 2016! Children and teens can register now at all Satilla Regional Library locations in Douglas, Broxton, Ambrose, Pearson, Willacoochee, and Nicholls. Children and teens may participate from birth-18 years. All children and teens will receive a reading log to keep track of books they have checked out from any Satilla Regional Library location to bring in each week to have a chance to win prizes!!  

Children ages birth-12 years of age will receive a small weekly prize one time per week when they bring their reading log to any Satilla Regional Library location.

Children and teens may bring in their reading log they receive at registration (sign-up) each week to any location starting Monday, June 6, 2016 (one chance per week) to show what the child or teen has checked out and read to have a chance to be entered into the Mid-Summer Drawing and Grand Prize Drawings!! Each chance will count toward entering both contests during the first four weeks of Summer Reading Program and then toward the Grand prize drawing the last four weeks.

Mid-Summer Drawing Details
The Mid-Summer Prize Drawing has four chances of winning (one chance per week, per child or teen). The last day for a chance to be entered into this drawing is Thursday, June 30, 2016 by closing time. The mid-summer drawing winners will be drawn on Friday, July 1, 2016 and be contacted.

Grand Prize Drawing Details
The Grand Prize drawing has eight chances of winning (one per week per child or teen) during the entire Summer Reading Program. The last day to have a chance to be entered is Thursday, July 28, 2016 by closing time. The grand prize winners will be drawn on Friday, July 29, 2016 and be contacted.

Summer Reading Program Performers in June and July
Each performer will be visiting Douglas and Atkinson County every Wednesday in Douglas at 11:00 a.m. (except the week of July 4-9th when we will have story time picnics during Story and Craft times in Broxton, Ambrose, Pearson, Willacoochee and Nicholls) and alternating between Pearson and Willacoochee locations at 2:30 p.m.

that encourages  movement, laughter, and more!!
After our first performance on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 we will have a pizza party immediately following in the Large Meeting Room in Douglas and the Multi-Purpose Room in Pearson.

June 15, 2016: The Center for Wildlife Education (Willacoochee)
Raptors, reptiles, creepy crawlers and more!!

June 22, 2016: Jacksonville Zoo (Pearson)
Jacksonville Zoo: Come visit the zoo animals from the Jacksonville Zoo!!

June 29, 2016: Bill Packard, Magic Man (Willacoochee)
Mr. Bill uses popular book references, magic, comedy, music, puppetry,
and more to entertain and inspire students!!

July 13, 2016: Al Poindexter, Folk Singer (Pearson)
Come see this folk singing show and get a chance to sing along!!

July 20, 2016: Linda Brunson, Balloons R 4 Twisting (Willacoochee)
The kids are the Balloon Twisters!!  This is a great interactive balloon workshop!!

July 27, 2016: Bright Star Theatre (Pearson)
The Greatest: Sports Heroes from A-Z!!  Ice Cream Party immediately following!

Audio Spot Auditions for Children and Teens Ages 9-18 years!

Come and audition for a public service announcement to possibly be played on the radio! Auditions will be held at all locations in Douglas, Broxton, Ambrose, Pearson, Willacoochee, and Nicholls!!  This is ongoing! Please call Miss Julie at (912) 384-4667 ext. 222 to schedule an appointment at any of our locations!!

Board Games, Cards, and Puzzles!
Come and check out a board game at each of the locations! There are various board games, card games, and puzzles!!

Story and Craft Program at all locations!!

Douglas: Mondays at 3:30 p.m.
Broxton: Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m.
Ambrose: Tuesdays at 4:45 p.m.
Pearson: Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, June 15 and 29 at 4:00 p.m.
Willacoochee: Wednesday, June 1, 8, and 22 at 4:45 p.m.

Pearson and Willacoochee locations will alternate each week during Summer Reading Program. Pearson Story and Craft time will be at 4:00 p.m. instead of 3:30 p.m. during June and July.

Douglas and Pearson Teen Advisory Groups

Douglas: Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Douglas/Coffee County Public Library in the Large Meeting Room.

Pearson: When: Monday, June 6, 2016 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Pearson Public Library in the Multi-Purpose Room.
Please come and join the fun as teens meet together to have a great time with their peers planning young adult programs, helping order young adult books for the library’s collection, and planning fun activities for teens!! Earn volunteer hours for participating in Teen Advisory Group!! Refreshments will be served.
