When Captain Hook sends his right-hand man, Smee, on a quest to capture Peter Pan, it’s seemingly business as usual.  Little does Hook realize what  fantastic adventures await.  The community of Douglas is invited to watch as a pirate posse takes the stage and embarks on a quest to the magical Neverland.

Missoula Children’s Theatre and Coffee Alliance for the Arts are celebrating twenty years of bringing art and music events to our community by presenting another classic performance in Douglas this Saturday, June 18.

Locals collaborated with professional actors and directors to bring Peter and Wendy to the stage at South Georgia State College.  The college will host the traveling threatre group that has brought the performing arts to communities for 38 years. The group is a non-profit organization that fosters enrichment and education in all things theatrical:  acting, stage design, costumes and lights.  Along with arts education, local children learn team building and lifeskills by working hard to prepare a production in just one week.   Missoula Children’s Theatre uses art as a vehicle to develop social and communication skills, work ethic, and self esteem.  The week-long experience is a positive and uplifting opportunity for children in our area.

This team of professionals are typically college graduates with training in education or theatre. They have  been working with individuals in our community that auditioned for leading roles in the play, Peter and Wendy, and together they have rehearsed a full-scale musical production that will entertain and captivate the audience.

Several familiar faces will take the stage with world’s largest touring children’s theatre. Jack Ligenfelter will star as Peter’s Shadow, with Evie Woodward as Peter and Emily Freeman as Wendy.

Other local cast members include Hailey Flynn as Tinkerbell, with Sierra Dorminey, Jah’dai Goldman, Katelyn Hayes, Jane Ashley Rowell, Ellie Royal, Kate Waldron, and Frances Walton as the Lost Boys.  John and Michael Darling are Elijah Butler and Karlee Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Darling are Hannah Johnston and Ansley Royal. The notorious Captain Hook is Hannah Williams with Savannah Johnston, Ava LeFan, Jack Royal, Laegan Spivey, and Eli Vickers as his pirate crew.  Kalli Douglas is the Crocodile.  Lenira Barlow is Tiger Lily, and Emma Kate Abler, Keeley Doherty, Katie Beth Gillis, Adalyn Guess, Larissa LeFan, and Hannah Rogers are the Neverlanders.  Flying their way to Neverland are Josiah Anthony, Nora Katherine Bagwell, Maggie Brown, Adison Fender, Jocelyn Fender, Olivia Merritt, Reece Robinson, Faith Smith, Jaclynn Smith, and JaKayla Sutton as Clouds.

There will be two times to catch this magical live stage performance at Peterson Hall on the SGSC campus,  5 p.m and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children ages 6-18. Children 5 and under are admitted free.  Tickets are available this week at the Douglas/Coffee County Chamber of Commerce and at Peterson Hall an hour prior to each performance. Tickets will be available in the lobby of Peterson Hall June 13-17 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.
