Douglas police are investigating two store robberies that occurred within hours of each other Sunday.

The first incident occurred at Aden’s Minit Market on Highway 158 E., a business apparently popular among local criminals given the number of robberies and thefts that have taken place there over the last several years. According to witnnesses, the offender accosted a store clerk in the parking lot when the employee was leaving to make a bank deposit. He fled the scene and was described as a black male wearing a white t-shirt.

Later Sunday night. Clyde’s Market on the Willachoochee Hwy. was also robbed by an individual described by witnesses as a light-skinned black male wearing a hoodie.

Few other details are known at this time, and Douglas police continue to investigate.

Anyone with information in either of these cases is encouraged to contact the police department at (912) 384-2222.
