Two individuals were arrested in separate incidents recently on cocaine and methamphetamine charges, according to information released Thursday by Coffee County sheriff’s officials.

The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit (DCDU) and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division served a search warrant on Aug. 4 at 958 Kingwood Rd. After an investigation, authorities gained information an individual identifed as 27-year-old Juan Maldonado was selling illegal narcotics out of his residence.

The DCDU obtained a search warrant for the residence and found Maldonado to be in possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.  He was arrested and transported to the Coffee County Jail.

On Aug. 9, officers with the Douglas Police Dept. conducted a traffic stop on a white Ford F-150 truck at Flash Foods, 101 E. Baker Hwy. During the stop, authorities located a package of suspected cocaine and marijuana, along with a revolver under the seat.  DCDU agents responded to the scene and, following their investigation, arrested 23-year-old Qwavious Hawkins on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

A passenger in the vehicle, 21-year-old Montel Jackson, was also found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Both were arrested and transported to the Coffee County Jail.
