The world is going crazy. Absolutely insane. In what may be the most bizarre story of the year thus far in Coffee County, a former deputy has found himself in the middle of what appears to be a (thankfully) failed murder for hire plot.
According to Sheriff Doyle Wooten, an individual fired two shots at Anthony Youngblood, a former deputy with the sheriff’s office, at Youngblood’s home near Ambrose Thursday night. The shooter was apparently waiting outside the Youngblood home and fired a couple of rounds his way when he stepped outside. Both shots missed and Youngblood, along with the shooter, fled the scene – albeit in different directions.
Youngblood went to a neighbor’s home and called authorities. The shooter went in another direction and hitched a ride from the area. Deputies are investigating the incident, which quickly turned in the direction of Cindy Youngblood, Anthony Youngblood’s wife. Authorities believe that Cindy Youngblood may have been trying to have Anthony Youngblood killed.
Officers made a few breaks in the case on Friday and several individuals, including Cindy Youngblood, were taken in custody and questioned Friday. “This is just a really strange case,” stated Sheriff Wooten Friday afternoon. “It’s one of the strangest I’ve ever seen.” There are allegations drugs, guns, lots of money, marital infidelity, and all manner of other sordid details associated with this incident. While officers continue to ask questions and gather evidence, there’s still a lot more work to do as they unravel this particular crime.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
