The Rehearsal, a one-act play by Don Zolidis, opens this Friday in the Coffee High School Cafetorium. As CHS’s entry into the Region 1-6A’s One-Act Competition later this month, the students are offering a chance for the local fans of theatre to enjoy this comedy before everyone else.
The Rehearsal is about a group of high school theatre students who are overcome with anxiety at the thought of putting on a major Broadway musical, Guys and Dolls, without the luxury of having an abundance of guys. The director is determined to make it work even though only five guys remain, and only two actually have some talent. The play is full of stereotypical high school characters who try to solve all of the many issues that hinder both educational and amateur theatre today. There is plenty to laugh at, yet there is even more to ponder.
The show is scheduled for both a Friday and Saturday evening performance. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and tickets may be purchased there. Ticket prices are $5 each, and there is no admission charge for children 4 and under. Concessions will be available with proceeds going to our International Thespian Honor Society students who will be travelling to Columbus for the annual Thespian Conference, or Thescon, in February.
Come on out and enjoy an evening with the wonderful students as they showcase their talents in The Rehearsal.
