According to the October 2016 newsletter released by the Georgia State African-American Chamber of Commerce:
On September 22, 2016, Georgia State African-American Chamber of Commerce (GSAACC) Board Member and Mayor Pro-Tem (Douglas, Ga) Olivia Coley-Pearson attended a reception honoring State Representative Stacey Abrams (D-89) at the Albany Welcome Center. The invitation was extended by State Representative, District 153, Darrel Bush Ealum.
Representative Abrams is the House Minority Leader for the Georgia General Assembly and State Representative for the 89th House District. She is the first woman to lead either party in the Georgia General Assembly, and she is the first African-American to lead in the House of Representatives.
GSAACC Board Member Pearson states, “It was indeed an honor to be in the presence of Representative Abrams. Her tenure as state representative is quite impressive and influential.”
Representative Abrams stated in her message that it is very important that we remain vigilant and band together a statewide initiative to protect our military bases, to keep our homes and communities safe.
