The Pre-K students at Eastside Elementary enjoyed their first field trip of the school year as they traveled to explore a pumpkin patch farm. The students enjoyed their first bus ride as well during this adventure. A special “thank you” to Coffee County Bus Driver, Wanda Burkett for driving the three classes safely to Tifton and back.  We appreciate our Bus Drivers!

The classes of Ms. Beverly Barbaree, Ms. Susan Carver and Ms. Paige Williams arrived at Rutland Pumpkin Patch in Tifton ready for a day of exploration on the farm and in the pumpkin patch. The children have been learning in science about plants and animals and the stages of growth and their needs to continue to grow.  The culminating activity was a field trip to a working farm.

Upon arrival the children explored and picked a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. The children were then challenged to design and create their pumpkin’s face using 3D art pieces. Once completed the students went to explore the many animals on the farm in the petting area. The students enjoyed seeing the animals up close and even feeding and petting the many different farm animals.  The highlight of the day was riding on the “Jolly Hay Ride Wagon” and stopping along the way to feed the pond fish and figuring out how to enter and exit the unique hay bale maze.

To end the special day, the children were treated to homemade ice cream by the staff.

Eastside teachers would like to give a special shout out… “thank you” to all the many parents, grandparents and guardians that joined the group and assisted with supervision and activities with the students.  The teachers would also like to thank their students for representing Coffee County Pre-K with nice manners and following classroom/safety rules during the field trip. It was another GREAT Day in Coffee Pre-K!

Shown in the photos are students in Ms. Beverly Barbaree/Ms. Shavette Owens Pre-K Class enjoying the many activities experienced on their first field trip to Rutland Farms Pumpkin Patch.
