MARKET HOG SHOW INFORMATION

It’s time to get pigs tagged and paperwork completed for the 2017 Georgia 4-H & FFA Market Hog Show in Perry. The Coffee County Swine Booster Board, in cooperation with the Ag. Teachers and Extension Agents, have scheduled two tagging dates for entering pigs. The first will be this Saturday, November 12, from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Coffee High School Animal Science Building. Attempts are being made to have a vet on hand to draw blood samples for testing as well, but if we are unsuccessful, 4-H and FFA members will be expected to handle this at a later date.

A second tagging date is scheduled for Monday, November 14, from 4 to 5 p.m., also at the Coffee High School Animal Science Building. There will not be a vet at this tagging date.

The state rules can be accessed on the web by going to http://coffee4h.org and clicking “Horse & Livestock” on the menu, then select “State 4-H & FFA Livestock Rules (2016-2017).” For more information, please contact either your Extension Agent or Vo. Ag. Teacher at your school.

PET THERAPY VISITATION

Pet Therapy Visitation will be held at the Manor House Assisted Living Facility on Tuesday, November 15, from 4 to 4:30 p.m. 4-H members are asked to come and bring their friendly pets to share with the residents at Manor House. Remember that cats and dogs should be current with their vaccinations. Manor House is at 1360 W. Gordon Street in Douglas.

CLOVERLEAF 4-H DANCE FUNDRAISER

Cloverleaf 4-H members are invited to the next Cloverleaf 4-H Dance Fundraiser on Thursday, November 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door, but you must purchase a 4-H wristband from your school teacher. Wristbands are required as proof that you are a 4-H member in good standing with your teacher. Concessions will be available, so bring extra money if you are interested in purchasing anything to eat or drink.

Certified Chaperons and Teen Leaders are asked to help chaperon the dance. You will be needed by 5:30 p.m. to help set up and your assistance is needed until 8:30 p.m. with student pick up.

4-H FUNDRAISERS

In order to assist 4-H members with raising money to cover their summer camp fees, we have planned another Coca-Cola and Krispy Kreme fundraiser. The forms are ready now for parents to pick up. Orders and money are due back in the 4-H office by 4 p.m. on Monday, November 14. The donuts will be here for you to pick up and deliver to your customers on Thursday, November 17. We usually have them ready for pick up around 11 or 11:30 a.m.  The Coca-Cola pick up will be on Tuesday, December 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. Please put these dates on your calendar so that you don’t forget.

If you would like to learn how you can become more involved with the Coffee County 4-H program, please contact the Coffee County Extension office at (912) 384-1402 or visit our website at http://coffee4h.org.
