Westside Elementary hosted a school-wide spelling bee Monday, Nov. 14, starring homeroom spelling bee winners in grades four and five.  All participants were presented with certificates in recognition of their hard work in preparation for the contest.

The following students participated in the spelling bee and are pictured below: Back Row (Left to Right): Kensley Knight, Maggie Minchew, Abby Greer, Mailey Sinclair, Aaron Adame, Jamie Cruz, Owen Hill, and Samuel Hanks.  Front Row (Left to Right):  Kiara Williams, Ciara Williams, Raleigh Gifford, Shakevious Wright, Noah Cliett, Daniel Gowen, and Alexander Moreno.

Congratulations to the following spelling bee winners (pictured above):  1st place; Mailey Sinclair, 2nd place; Alexander Moreno,  3rd place; Samuel Hanks, and 4th place alternate; Daniel Gowen.

These students will move on to compete in the county-wide spelling bee that will be held on January 26, 2017.  Special thanks to former Westside counselor Wil Waters for serving as the pronouncer, Mrs. Amy Hughes for serving as recorder, and to Candace Stalvey, Lisa Spivey, and Sabrina Rhodes for judging the spelling bee.
