Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is accepting new student applications for Spring Semester.  Classes begin January 9, 2017.  New to the Coffee Campus, Wiregrass is now offering a Diesel Truck Maintenance Technician program. This is a technical certificate of credit program where students will learn to repair and maintain semi-trucks, trailers, and other diesel equipment.

Some of the topics students will cover include diesel shop safety, tools and equipment, preventive maintenance procedures, truck brake systems, and truck drive trains.  Transpower of Douglas helped partner with Wiregrass to start this new program and the class will be offered at their location at 121 Bowens Mill Road SE in Douglas.  The classes are being offered Monday through Thursday from 6 to 10:30 p.m.

“We are so excited to be able to begin a diesel mechanics training program. We are well aware of the growing demand for qualified diesel mechanics, and are proud to have the opportunity to begin a program that will have such a strong job outlook for our future graduates,” shared Brandy Wilkes,  Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.  “We know that this program will allow us to better serve the employment needs of local employers who have graciously given us the support to open the program.”

Those interested in learning more about the program or to enroll are encouraged contact the college’s admissions department. Spring Semester Orientation is January 5 and classes begin January 9, 2017.
