SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING

We would like to remind 4-H members who have signed up to take a turn ringing the bell for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Drive on Monday, December 19, to be at the Walmart store at your assigned time.  Be sure to add this to your calendar. If you have forgotten your time slot, please contact the 4-H office at (912) 384-1402.

JR/SR DPA PORTFOLIO DEADLINE

Final copies of the Junior/Senior District Project Achievement Portfolios are due in the 4-H office by Friday, December 16. Remember that all information should be from the 2016 calendar year except any background information.

Senior 4-H members should have a cover letter (which includes your background information), a main project page (with project work, sharing and helping), and another page to include leadership, community service, and other activities. You need two pages of supporting material to show your involvement in these activities.

Junior 4-H members should have two pages to include background, main project work, main project sharing and helping, leadership, community service, other 4-H activities, and other activities. You also need one supporting material page.

District Project Achievement will be January 27-29 at Rock Eagle.

CHRISTMAS BREAK

As schools begin their break for the Christmas holidays, I wanted to remind you of the 4‑H/Extension office holiday schedule. We will be open our regular business hours (8 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) through Thursday, December 22. We will be closed Friday, December 23  through Monday, January 2. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 3 for our regular business hours.

Please be sure to allow for this holiday break when submitting samples (such as soil, tissue, etc.). Our laboratories will also have this holiday schedule and samples need to be submitted in ample time to be processed. Otherwise, they will have to wait until after the holidays.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the UGA Extension staff in Coffee County.

If you have questions about the Coffee County 4-H Club program, or questions around the farm or home, please feel free to contact the Coffee County Extension office at (912) 384-1402. Remember, we are YOUR local connection to the University of Georgia.
