As the Christmas holidays quickly approach, excitement is in the air at Eastside Elementary School Pre-K classrooms. The students have been learning about the many traditions of “Christmas Around the World” and how it is celebrated.  As the culminating activity, all 67 Pre-K students, along with help from many volunteers, created their own special gingerbread boy or girl. No two creations looked the same.  Gingerbread boys and girls were seen with all types of candies, icing, fruits, nuts and the works as they were decorated to perfection by each student.

The gingerbread boys and girls were left in good care to be baked in the oven by the wonderful Eastside Café lunchroom staff under the direction of Mrs. Patricia Pace.  However, the gingerbread over-powered the lunchroom staff and pushed open the oven doors….running wildly throughout the school and hiding from their Pre-K creators.  After a review of clues and searching, the students returned to their classrooms to find the gingerbread creations on their tables with juice ready to be enjoyed by all!

The classes of Ms. Barbaree/Owens, Mrs. Carver/Whittle and Mrs. Williams/Palen would like to say a special thank you to all the volunteers who assisted with this special project and Merry Christmas to all…  It was another great day in Coffee Pre-K!
