Winter weather has not brought real snow to Coffee County yet. However, that hasn’t stopped students in the Coffee County Pre-K program from learning about snow, and teachers have used many creative ideas to bring “snow” to the classroom.  Snow activities have been observed throughout the county Pre-K classrooms in language, math, and, especially, science experiments.

Shown in the photos are students at Eastside Elementary School in Ms. Barbaree and Ms. Owens Pre-K class as they explore writing practice with letters and words in the snow (shaving cream).  Each child was given a challenge to write their name in the snow, then to find words using the environmental print within the classroom.

During Art and Music, the children enjoyed reading and watching the classical story/movie, The Snowman.  Following the story/movie, the children listened to the classical music from the movie and created their own magical snowman.  Each child created his/her own unique snowman and dictated a story to share about the magical adventure they took, just like the book they enjoyed reading.

It was another great day in Coffee Pre-K!
