Doris Hurst, age 79, of Douglas, GA passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Hurst was born on May 7, 1937, in Tallahassee, FL to the late Lloyd William Pippin and Follis Leona Gainous Pippin.
Survivors include: her husband, Vernon Hurst of Douglas, GA; three sons, Dennis (Cindy) Hurst of Douglas, GA, Donnie E. (Pamela) Hurst of Douglas, GA, and Dwayne Hurst of Douglas, GA; daughter, Deborah Hurst of Douglas, GA; two sisters, Dorothy Showalter of Ochlocknee, GA and Frances Cleland of Tecumseh, MI; eight grandchildren, William Hurst, Jason Hurst, Shanna Hurst, Marissa Hurst, Dasha Tucker, Michael Jordan, Lawton Hurst, and Mallory Hurst; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, J.L. Pippin and Landis Pippin.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m at Sims Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Walter James and Rev. Kenyon Fennell officiating.
