CLOVERLEAF 4-H CAMP SIGN UP
Cloverleaf 4-H Camp for 4th – 6th grade 4-H members will be held at the Rock Eagle 4‑H Center (near Eatonton, GA) during the week of June 12-16. Rock Eagle is the WORLD’S LARGEST 4-H CENTER and holds over 1,000 people at a time. Because this camp is so big, it has more activities to offer 4-H members like two swimming pools, canoes, and much more.
Sign up for Cloverleaf 4-H Camp will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 1, during office hours (8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.). A deposit of $90 (or the camp fee of $360) is due at sign up. If you pay the $90 deposit, the next payment of $90 will be due by the first of the month for March, April, and May. The first payment of $90 makes up the non-refundable deposit and must be paid by everyone (even if you receive a camp scholarship).
JUNIOR/SENIOR 4-H CAMPS
It’s time to start getting deposits ready for summer camps. Junior 4-H Camp for 7th and 8th graders will be held at the brand new Camp Jekyll facility this summer the week of June 26-30. The cost has been set at $375 plus transportation for the week’s adventure.
Senior 4-H Camp (9th-12th graders) will again be held at Rock Eagle and will be held May 29-June 2. The cost is set at $360 plus transportation. Mrs. Chalanda Woods, 4-H AmeriCorps Member, is assigned to this camp and will be attending with these 4-H members.
Other options for camps include Senior Extreme Camp for 9th-12th graders (June 12-16, $350) at Rock Eagle’s Pioneer Camp, while Junior 4-H members (7th & 8th graders) have the options of Marine Resources Camp (July 3-7, $345) at the Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island or Wilderness Challenge Camp (July 17-21, $380) at the Wahsega 4-H Center near Dahlonega. It will be the parent’s responsibility to get 4-H members to these camps if a 4-H member decides to go and we can’t find a ride with another county attending that camp.
Non-refundable deposits for these camps are $90 and are due by February 1, with the balance of all camp fees due by May 1.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS
With the continual increase in cost of everything, it gets harder and harder for parents to afford activities like 4-H summer camp. In an effort to help 4-H members be able to attend camp, our staff works to procure dollars to provide camp scholarships. Businesses, individuals, and civic organizations are encouraged to contribute to this cause.
Students can then apply for these camp scholarships. The camp scholarship application is available on the 4-H web site at http://coffee4h.org under the “Forms” page and is due by Wednesday, February 1. The application also requires a recommendation from a teacher or administrator. Please don’t wait until the deadline to ask someone for this recommendation.
COCA-COLA/KRISPY KREME FUNDRAISERS
4-H members who are taking part in the Coca-Cola and Krispy Kreme fundraisers are reminded to turn in your order forms and money by 4 p.m. on Monday, January 30. The drinks and donuts can be picked up at the 4-H office from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
If you have questions about the Coffee County 4-H Club program, or questions around the farm or home, please feel free to contact the Coffee County Extension office at (912) 384-1402. Remember, we are YOUR local connection to the University of Georgia.
