Mrs. Alma Mackey Avera Sears, age 96, of Douglas, GA passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, Columbia County, Florida following an extended illness. Mrs. Sears was born December 19, 1920 to the late William Henry Avera and the late Mackey Nicholls Avera. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Phillips and two grandchildren, Christi Douglas and Cameron Blasingame. Mrs. Sears was an active member of both Pine Grove Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. She had retired from B. C. Moore & Sons, where she worked in sales both in Douglas and Nashville.

Survivors include: 2 Sons, William D. (Ann) Bailey and Tony (Carol) Bailey both of Douglas, GA; 2 Daughters, Ann Jenkins of Live Oak, FL; Carolyn (Troy) Blasingame of Douglas, GA; 13 Grandchildren; Numerous Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces, Nephews, Other Relatives and Friends.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Carver, Rev. Marshall Adcock and Rev. Emanuel Ellison officiating. The interment will follow in Satilla Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Sears will be placed in the church on Sunday at 2:00 P.M. to lie in state until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 29, 2017, from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. at Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
