Rev. Ruby Smith, age 82, of Douglas, Ga. passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born on December 27, 1934, in Coffee County, Ga. to the late Henry Kinch Hilliard and Lovie Wooten Hilliard.

Survivors include: her son, Jackie Fred Smith, Sr. of Douglas, Ga.; three daughters, Brenda Jean Copeland of Douglas, Ga., Janice McLaughlin of Macon, Ga., Sherry Giardina of Alachua, Fla.; adopted son, Rev. Darrell Smith of Waycross, Ga.; sister, Inez Smith of Broxton, Ga.; eleven grandchildren, Jamie Brown, Victoria Kitchens, Jacqueline Kristin Taylor, Jackie Fred Smith, Jr., Tanya Allison Vaughn, Frances Bradley, Sharon Bennett, Charmagne Manning, BJ Bradley, Darrell Hinton Smith, and Ashley Nicole McElroy; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Fred Smith; three brothers, Dewey Hilliard, Huey Hilliard, and Lovie Hilliard; four sisters, Eulee Hasty, Lunette Carpenter, Pearl Swinson, and Betty Lee Miller; three grandchildren, Lisa Brown, Tammy Brown, and Kenneth Brown.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Shiloh House of Prayer. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh House of Prayer with Rev. Hubert Stanley, Rev. Allen Peacock, and Rev. Jackie Fred Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
