JUNIOR/SENIOR DPA
Coffee County 4-H members brought home 23 first, second, and third place awards and two Senior 4-H members will be advancing to the state competition in Atlanta in July. In addition, five Coffee County 4-H members were elected to help lead Southeast District 4-H this year.
Coffee County was well represented at the annual Junior/Senior District Project Achievement (DPA) at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center January 27-29. These students had to begin by selecting a project. There are 49 Junior projects and 47 Senior projects to select from. Once a project was selected, they did project work through the year in order to complete a portfolio on their project work during the 2016 calendar year. After submitting their portfolio which counted for 40% of Junior scores and 50% of Senior scores, they competed at DPA by presenting a demonstration in their project area at the contest. Demonstration scores make up the balance of their total scores.
Junior 4-H participants, their projects, and their placings include: Ashton Ates, Food Fare, 2nd place; Brayden Bailey, Festive Foods for Health, 1st place; Antonio Baldwin, Sports; Jeremiah Brantley, General Recreation, 3rd place; Carla Bullard, Arts, 3rd place; Austin Cleveland, Performing Arts-Instrumental; Amelia Crockett, Public Speaking, 2nd place; Margo Daniels, Food for Fitness, 1st place; Destiny Douglas, Sports; Terryanna Harris, Crafts, 2nd place; Kiki Kellam, Pizza, 1st place; Quincy Kent, Wildlife, 3rd place; Muskan Minhas, Arts, 1st place; Kameron Pennell, Target Sports; Alexandra Rivero, Dairy Foods, 1st place; Ishika Sadarangani, Better Breakfast; Jonathan Sayer, Sheep & Meat Goats, 1st place; Justin Strickland, Sports, 3rd place; Sariah Wells, Performing Arts-General; and Jenna Williams, Fruits, Vegetables, & Nuts, 1st place.

T.K. McIver and Willie Spence will be advancing to state competition in July at State 4-H Congress in Atlanta. We want to wish them the best of luck as they compete against the district winners from all four 4-H districts in Georgia.
Evie Woodward did an excellent job serving in her final leadership role as Vice-president of the SE District Senior Board of Directors. In addition, four 4-H members (Bethany Land, T.K. McIver, Willie Spence, and Olivia Thomas) campaigned for the 2017-2018 SE District Senior Board of Directors. T.K. McIver was elected as Vice-president of the Senior Board and Willie Spence was elected as board member. Both will serve until next February’s DPA contest. We also had four Junior 4-H members (Amelia Crockett, Alexandra Rivero, Ishika Sadarangani, and Sariah Wells) run for the 2017-2018 Junior 4-H Board of Directors. Alexandra Rivero and Ishika Sadarangani tied for the position of Vice-president and Amelia Crockett was elected as Junior Board Member. This gives Coffee County five 4-H members representing us on the Southeast District Junior and Senior Board of Directors for the 2017-2018 years.
Because of having a great group of 4-H members participate in this event, Coffee County 4-H was awarded a plaque for having the most participants at the contest and the third place award for the highest increase in participation over last year’s number. We want to congratulate all of our participants on the great job they did representing Coffee County at this year’s DPA.

Not only are T.K. McIver and Willie Spence newly elected SE District Senior Board members, they will also advance to state project competition at State 4-H Congress this summer because of their placings at DPA. Congratulations, T.K. and Willie.
