As one of their spring community service projects, the SGSC Pre-Medical Club volunteered at the CRMC Heart2Heart Walk on Saturday, February 18, 2017.

The South Georgia State College (SGSC) Pre-Medical Club was formally established fall semester 2015, and is a student organization that focuses primarily on preparing students for professional pathways. Its mission is to pique students’ interest in the medical field and prepare them for a future position in a professional setting.

The purposes of the SGSC Pre-Medical Club are to educate members on ethics and standards in the professional environment, to provide members with the materials to prepare themselves to meet the requirements for their respective fields, to offer opportunities for internship in professional settings in the area where they can observe the doctor – patient interactions, and to encourage critical thinking, improve memory, organization and decision making skills, and promote involvement in the community through the fellowship of like-minded individuals.

Advisors are Dr. Kimberly Hunt and Dr. Yoga Sundrum, both Professors of Biology. Current officers are Kenneth Nguyen (President), Gregory Turner (Vice President), Tracie Mattox (Secretary), and Hartley Causey (Treasurer).

If you are interested in learning more about the Pre-Med Club or would like to make a donation to support the group’s outreach, please contact Dr. Kimberly Hunt at 912-260-4344 or kimberly.hunt @ sgsc.edu.
