Linton “Pete” Steptoe, age 87, of Douglas, GA passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2014, at Shady Acres following an extended illness.

Mr. Steptoe was born on August 6, 1929, in Meeks, GA to the late James Henry Steptoe and Eunie Lauren Meeks Steptoe. Survivors include: his three daughters, Linda Carelock, Terry (David) Bowen both of Douglas, GA and Sandy (Johnny) Adams of Nicholls, GA; eight grandchildren, Tracey (Chris) Barfield, Luke Adams, Miranda (Daniel) Johnson, Kyle (Audrey) Barnes, Clif Adams, John Adams, Stacy Grant and David (Brianna) Bowen; three step-grandchildren, Malissa Jewell, Davina (Joey) Porter, and Summer Westbury; special great-grandchild Kolby Carelock whom he reared; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florine Steptoe; two sisters; and six brothers.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Holiness Church with Rev. David Bowen officiating. Interment followed at Douglas City Cemetery. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
