Mrs. Nancy Marie Mizell Douglas, age 74, of Douglas passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 25, 2017, at Hospice Satilla Hospice House of Waycross, following an extended illness. She was born July 18, 1942 to the late Sid Mizell and the late Fannie Delk Mizell. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Etta Wilson and two brothers, Roan Mizell and Spencer Mizell. Mrs. Douglas, a native of Homerville, Clinch County, retired after 40 years as a ward clerk with Coffee Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Douglas was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Fred Douglas, Sr. of Douglas, GA; a son, Fred Douglas, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Willacoochee, GA; daughter, Myra Belk and husband Glenn of Douglas, GA; sister, Candacy Prescott of Pearson, GA; grandchildren, Perris Taylor of Orlando, FL, Scarlett Martin of Columbus, GA, Rebecca Douglas and Rachel Douglas, both of Willacoochee, GA; great grandchildren, Kaylie Porter, Jeremiah Taylor and Malilki Claypool of Douglas, GA, Jada Sapp of Carrollton, GA and Rocky Martin of Columbus, GA; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
The funeral service was held Friday morning, April 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Morningside Baptist Church with Rev. Chip Woodruff officiating. The interment followed at Stokesville Cemetery with Rev. Bill Stone conducting the graveside service. Active pallbearers were: John Corbitt, David Thrift, Andy Holton, Daniel Ogden, Travis Martin and Ben Chapman. Special musical selections “In The Garden” was presented by Morningside Baptist Church choir, with Kathy Whiddon, at the piano and “Beulah Land” was presented a cappella by Morningside Baptist Church choir. Prelude and postlude soft hymns were rendered by the pianist, Kathy Whiddon.
Ricketson Funeral Home was charge of the arrangements.
