James “Jim” Douglas Watson, Sr., age 71, of Douglas, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Watson was born on September 15, 1945, in Brunswick to the late W.L. “Sheik” Watson and Gladys Mae (James) Watson.

Survivors include: his son, James D. Watson, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter, Patricia Watson Ruedas of Augusta, GA; three grandchildren, Kylen Ruedas, Ashley Watson, and Jazz Schagane; great-grandchild, Enora Schagane; three sisters, Norma Jane Collins of Brunswick, GA, Mary Ruth Stone of Melbourne, FL, and Sara Elizabeth Huschke of Brunswick, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Harry Cohen, Louis Strickland, and Chuck Sims officiating. Active pallbearers were New Hope Recovery Center. Interment followed at Satilla Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers James D. Watson, Sr. requested donations be made to New Hope Recovery Center, Inc., 637 Ethel Street, Douglas, GA 31533. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
